Somatization Disorders Description

This monograph is designed to enable obstetricians-gynecologists to:
- Develop a working definition of somatization and recognize the epidemiology of somatization and medically unexeplained symptoms in primary care
- Increase awareness about the biologic, psychologic, social and cultural factors involved in medically unexplained symptoms
- Identify risk factors associated with the onset and maintenance of somatization-related behaviors
- Screen and identify patients in primary care with various psychiatric conditions in which somatic symptoms are common
- Formulate practical clinical management strategies for patients with medically unexplained symptoms

Self-assessment questions are included at the end of each monograph. 5 CME credits will be awarded per issue.
