This CD ROM is intended as supplemental material inadequately covered in residency programs and to meet the demand for information on this topic. Content centers upon finding the origin of conditions related to pelvic floor dysfunction and on treating such conditions. Program content presumes a background as a practicing physician, but does not require knowledge specific to urogynecology. Content of this program provides a generalist obstetrician and gynecologist with an important learning tool to update their knowledge and supplements existing material taught in residency programs.

Participants who complete this program will be able to:

  • Determining the etiology of a variety of conditions relative to pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Identifying appropriate medical and surgical management for urogynecologic symptoms
  • Applying appropriate diagnostic procedures in evaluating pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Identifying risk factors associated with pelvic floor dysfunction and describing preventive strategies for women in all age groups
  • Describing actions of the autonomic and somatic nervous systems during bladder filling, storage, and voiding
