Program for Continuing Professional Development (Cognate Program)

The Cognate Program is open to all physician membership categories of the College. Through this voluntary educational program, the College records and maintains a computerized list of all member-reported continuing medical education (CME) activities. The program is based on a 3-year cycle that begins with receipt of the first appropriate CME activity verification. An award will be issued to participants who successfully complete the program with a minimum of 150 Category 1 credits within a 3-year cycle. Fulfilling this requirement also qualifies the participant for the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award. Continuing medical education activities are planned and produced in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education .


Transcripts Available Online

Transcripts are available on the College web site, or one can be requested from the Cognate Office for a processing fee of $25. If you have not registered for the College web site, please go to www.acog.org, click on “login” and follow the instructions. Once you have been granted member access to the web site, click on “My ACOG” and choose “Cognate CME Transcript.”


Each physician must have a unique e-mail address. Multiple physicians cannot be registered under the same e-mail address.
